Delhi Capitals’ wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has been ruled out for at least a week from the ongoing IPL due to a hamstring injury that he suffered recently, team captain Shreyas Iyer has said.
Pant suffered the injury during the match against Rajasthan Royals on Friday and missed the Sunday showdown against defending champions Mumbai Indians, which his team lost by five wickets.
“We have no idea (on Rishabh’s availability), the doctor said he has to rest for a week and hope he comes back really strong,” Iyer said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
Delhi are scheduled to take on Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday and Chennai Super Kings on Saturday this week. Australia’s Alex Carey replaced Pant in the playing eleven on Sunday.
Opting to bat, DC made a competitive 162 for four, a target which MI chased down with two balls to spare and Iyer admitted that they were 10-15 runs short.
“Definitely, I would say 10-15 short, 170-175 on the board would have looked completely different.
